Chapter Five (Turn Me On)

Ch. 4 (Through The Years)
-Nate and Jake went over to Joseph and Sarah's house for dinner.
-During the game, the boys bickered back and forth after Nate's "Chilly Willy" comment.
-Joseph threatened to give them a "litty chilly willy" reputation at work if they didn't act nice.  Apparently, it worked.
-Jake helped Sarah with dinner by making salad.
-To Joseph and Sarah's surprise, Lyn turned out to be Brad's ex.
-Sarah did not like the idea of Luke getting involved with someone associated with Brad.
-After the boys left, Joseph warned his wife that he was going to "spank that ass".

Time: 9:49 p.m.

"It's about time." Nate breathes a sigh of relief as he opens the door.

"Sorry I'm late.  I got caught up." Landon shrugs, barely able to look his best friend in the eye.  But they didn't always get along.  They both played baseball in high school, but for different teams, who happened to be the city's largest rivals: Public School 67 Warriors  (Nate's school) and Bridgeport High Pirates (Landon's school).  Even though Nate led his school in hits, Landon held the district record with 15 or less hits allowed every season.  In their junior year, they went head-to-head in the district championships.  Landon knew he was good, and he was very cocky.  He was convinced that he would throw a no-hitter against Nate's team, with state already on his mind.  To his surprise, not only did Nate hit three home runs that night, he also led his team to the state championships.  Even though the Warriors lost, Nate finally earned Landon's respect as an athlete.

"Yeah, you got caught in someone's skirt, huh?" Rolling his eyes, Nate lets Landon inside the apartment.

"Dude, it was Lisa's fault.  She needed some Big Daddy." He grins mischievously, pointing to himself.  

"What's that smell??" Nate starts sniffing his brown-eyed friend's cotton sweatshirt.

"What?  I just took a shower!" He looks down, then starts inhaling his armpits. "And I put deodorant."

"No...it's something else..." 

"Whaaat?" 

"I smell..." Nate pauses, then looks at him straight in the eyes. "A whore!!"

"Call me what you want. I just got laid."



"Come on, J.C., just do a kneel down.  I'm already whoopin' your ass by 21 points!" Jake elbows his best friend, who shares the apartment with him and Nate.  They have known each other since first grade.  Jake can still remember the first day he met Johnny Clemens, as known as J.C.  He was practicing with his soccer ball outside when a moving truck pulled up to the house next door.  Out came a quiet, scrawny kid in a torn hooded sweatshirt and faded jeans.  Before he even had a chance to say hello, he overheard his older brother Brad say, "Let's put the stuff inside before Dad throws a fit."  

The next day, the teacher introduced J.C. as the new student in Jake's class, but nobody wanted to play with him during recess.  He just sat under a tree near the swings, watching everyone else run around and scream in delight.  Jake felt bad for this new kid, so he went over to talk to him.  He ignored the strange stench coming from his wrinkled clothes, as well as his troubling inability to make eye contact.  During lunch, Jake found him sitting alone, so he decided to to join him, despite the other students' protest.  With his feather-blonde hair, sparkling hazel eyes and killer smile, he had no problems making friends...and charming the female teachers.  To Jake's dismay, Sarah accidentally gave him Luke's lunch: a tuna melt.  He hates tuna, and just a mere whiff of the fishy smell made him queazy.  Seeing this, J.C. offered his peanut butter and jelly sandwich.  They have been best friends since.

"Hell no, bro! I still got three minutes." J.C. elbows him back as he forces a fumble, bringing his team close to the 20 yard line.



"What's up, Landon!" Jake briefly looks up as his brother's best friend sits next to him.

"What took you so long?" J.C. asks, never wavering his gaze from the t.v.

"You know...Lisa." 

"Are you sure she's not your girlfriend? She's been holding you up lately." Jake playfully shoves him.  

"Naw, dude.  There's too many flavors at Baskin Robbins." 

"Yeah, and he just had a scoop tonight." Nate chuckles.

"Daaaaaamn!!" Jake and J.C. both sit back in awe, looking at Mr. Big Daddy.

"We need to get going.  Who's driving?" Nate walks over to the game console to turn it off.

"I can drive." Landon announces.  "It's the least I can do."





"So where are we going?" Landon slows down as a four way stop approaches.  

"In Somniac.  We're meeting Jessica and her friends." Nate straightens out his hat, feeling anxious just thinking about her.  Even though they haven't spoken in over three months since the break-up, she called him up a few days ago to see if he wanted to get together.  Nate made it clear from the beginning that he just wanted to have fun, but with the hot sex they were having, things became a little more complicated.  Feelings got involved.  Expectations arose.  The next thing he knew, he found himself a girlfriend who wanted to meet his family.  The problem was, she wasn't exactly the type of girl he planned on bringing home to mom.  And sure enough, Sarah didn't like her, no matter how polite she was.  There was a subtle icyness in Sarah's tone as she shook this girl's hand.  Nate regretted bringing her home...but not as much as his mother's disapproval.

"You're back together?" Jake turns around, looking at his brother suspiciously.

"No.  Just hanging out." 

"That's how it starts.  You already broke up like a dozen times." Landon looks over at him from the rear-view mirror.

"I don't know, man.  It's just...something about her."  Nate's legs start to fidget as he looks out the window.

"I don't blame you.  She's hot." J.C., who is sitting next to him, shakes his head in a daze. "Mm, mm, mm.  She looks like she'll fu---"

"Heyyyy! That's my ex you're talking about." 

"Sorry, dude.  Just sayin'."

"I hope her friends are hot." Landon chimes in as he makes a right turn.



Location: Insomniac
Time: 10:27 p.m.

As Nate enters the dance floor, he can already feel the bass from the music vibrating under his shoes. Yeah, it's on tonight! The contrast of the neon lights from the gobo wildly caressing the floor in the dark, along with the damp smell of sweat and liquor in the air, pumps him up even more.  He needed this.  After a grueling first week at the firestation, he needed to release some of the tension from his body and mind.  

He searches for Jessica, but he can't find her.  He does, however, see a few cute girls dancing, but their backs are turned. He starts to wonder if those are her friends.

"Is she here?" Landon asks as he scans the room for a familiar face.

"I don't see her." Just the thought of seeing his ex again causes a tightness in his chest.  He's been thinking about her lately, wondering what he'd do when he sees her again.  Will the feelings return? Or will he realize that the only thing they have in common is sex?



A girl with short, platinum blonde hair and pale hazel-green eyes stops dead in her tracks as soon as she sees Nate.  She's mesmerized by the way he moves his body to the music.  A soft smile escapes her lips as she imagines herself grinding on him, teasing him.  His hands would travel up and down her back as their heavy breathing start to drown out the music.  The only thing they will know is the impatient need to free themselves from the constraint of their clothes.  The only thing they will want is the urgent desire to feel and taste each other's skin.

"Nathan." The sound of his name escapes her tongue like a bubble being blown into the breeze.  

"Hey, Jessica..." His pulse jumps at the sight of her standing in front of him.  From her short, body-hugging dress to the way her high heels accentuate her long, shapely legs,  he can't think straight.  Hazy flashbacks of their naked, sweaty bodies tangled up for hours invade his thoughts as he tries to remember why they broke up in the first place.  Fuck, she looks hot.  

"How've you been?" Her eyes burn through him as she slowly scans him from head to toe.  

"I've been good.  What about you?" 

"Can't complain."



"So did your friends make it?" Nate asks as his body moves with hers.  He doesn't want to get ahead of himself, so he keeps a certain distance, despite what her eyes are suggesting,

"Yeah, they're around here somewhere.  Did yours?" She flashes him a warm smile as she looks around.

"Yeah, except for Luke.  He's out of town." 



"I almost didn't recognize you! You used to be blonde!" J.C.'s jaw drop at the sight of Brooke with black hair.  He met her two years ago at Brad and Lyn's party, when they just moved in together. He thought she was gorgeous then, but there's something about her with black hair...that makes her so exotic and sultry.  They make quite a striking contrast with her pale, Caribbean blue eyes, making them so intense, that they almost glow.   

"I know.  I was red before I went black." She runs her fingers through her  long hair, briefly looking down at the strands before her eyes return to his gaze.

"Black is your color.  I mean...wow..." He tries not to stare too much, so he looks away.

"Haha. Thank you.  I'm glad you like it."



"So what have you been up to?" Brooke asks as she  sways her hips to the music.

"Well, I graduated. I work for city hall now." 

"Nice! I graduated too but  I'm going back."

"Oh yeah?"

"I'll be attending med school next semester." 

"That's awesome! So you're not doing the school counseling?"

"No...I worked at a middle school for a year...it's not my thing.  I've always dreamed of being a doctor but I never pursued it."

"At least you got to see how you like it.  Good luck with med school though.  It kicked my brother's butt."

"Thanks.  How is he by the way?"

"He's good.  I haven't talked to him in a while.  He's been really busy since he became a doctor.  Do you still talk to Lyn?"

"No, we lost touch.  She was so busy with med school that I never saw her.  Then she disconnected her number so I haven't been able to get a hold of her."



"You wouldn't happen to be Jessica's friend, would you? Please say yes." Landon approaches the blonde girl who occasionally stole looks in his direction.

"Haha yes.  And you're one of Nate's friends?" She mindlessly rubs the side of her neck with her hand.  He can't tell if she's annoyed or nervous.

"Yes.  I'm Landon." He offers his hand as he flashes her a smile.

"I'm Jamie.  Nice to meet you." 

"You wanna dance?" 

"Sure!"



"So how do you know Jessica?" He asks as he tries not to stare at the way her breasts hold up her dress nicely.  

"She's my roommate.  How do you know Nate?" Jamie follows his eyes, secretly  catching him in the act.

"We've been best friends since high school." 

"Wow, you've known each other for a while."

"You can say that.  So what's going on with Nate and Jessica? I thought they broke up."

"Honestly, I don't even know.  They've been going back and forth for a year."



"Hey, you wanna dance?" A dark-haired girl wearing sunglasses approaches Jake.  She's been eyeing him for the last ten minutes.  Even though she saw him come in with three other guys, she wanted to see if he's the type that approaches a girl first or if he waits until they come to him.  Seeing that her friends already found somebody to pair up with, she saw this as the perfect opportunity to talk to him.

"Uhh...yeah, sure." He's caught off guard by her directness.  He's a little shy around women, especially the hot brunettes.  There's something about women with dark hair that just call out to him, making him want to run his fingers through each silky strand.



"So what's your name?" Her eyes seductively pull him in as she inches closer, hypnotizing him with the fluid movement of her body.

"Jake.  What's yours?" Now he's painfully aware of how short her dress is.  If she bends over in front of him, he will be able to see the goods.  And based on her body language, she may or may not be wearing panties.

"Naveah."







"Do you want anything to drink?" Nate asks Jessica once  they reach the second floor.  It's the perfect spot for those who want a little more privacy, with less noise.  There's a separate seating area for those that just want to hang out and watch t.v.  There are also two hot tubs available for groups or couples, both closed in for extra privacy.

"Sure." 

"Melted Snowman, right?" 

"Yes.  You still remember." 

"Of course I do."

"Make me come alive
Come on, turn me on
Touch me, save my life
Come on and turn me on
I'm too young to die
Come on and turn me on"



"Mmm...I love this drink." She lets out a soft moan as the sweet concoction runs down her throat.

"I know.  It's your favorite." The nectar lingers in Nate's mouth, but the alcohol slowly travels south of his body.  It burns his chest, leaving a trail of hot tingles towards his pants.  

"Nate..."

"Yeah?"

"You know how we get when we drink..."

"How do we get?"

"You know..." She leans closer, her lips grazing his ear as she whispers. "Hot..."

"Oh, shit..." Shivers run down his spine as her warm breath hampers his ability to breathe...or think straight.
